Broadway Art-A-Fair
2010 is the inaugural year for the Broadway Art-A-Fair, a one-day fair held from 10 am to 4 pm on Saturday, August 7, 2010, presented by the Marine Villa Neighborhood Association. The fair will be held at the historic Fire Engine House #3, located at 3678 South Broadway. The firehouse is located on the Bike St. Louis path and is in the heart of Marine Villa, an enclave of South St. Louis. It is our intent to show case the emerging artist community in Marine Villa and the surrounding neighborhoods. Broadway Art-A-Fair will feature unique, quality and affordable art, local eats, and entertaining performances. Broadway Art-A-Fair promises to raise awareness of our dynamic community and the talent that resides here, as well as the artist that lies within all of us.
Amenities and ServicesArtists may load adjacent to their booth during setup and teardown. Artists will be provided free cold water, volunteer booth sitters and discounted food. Prizes will be awarded to the top three outstanding exhibitors.
Marketing and PromotionBroadway Art-A-Fair will be featured in several media outlets including print and online media. The event will be listed on several local arts and entertainment calendars. Program guides will include artist contact information and will be distributed prior to and during the event.
Invitation ProcessBroadway Art-A-Fair will host up to 20 artist booths with the intent to present unique and imaginative art from the established to the emerging artist. Artists must follow the application procedure outlined below.
Rules for Participation
1. All exhibitors must reside within a 50-mile radius of the City of Saint Louis.2. Broadway Art-A-Fair presents original work of exhibiting artists. All work must be original and handcrafted.
3. No artwork from molds, kits, or other commercial methods will be allowed.
4. If work is produced in editions, edition numbers must be disclosed to the fair attendees and included in the application.
5. Work displayed must be consistent with the work submitted.
6. Artists must be present at their assigned booth for the entire duration of the fair (10 am to 4 pm). If work is collaborative, at least one artist must be present at their assigned booth for the entire duration of the fair.
7. All work must carry a selling price. The artist may present a portfolio or sample of work that could be custom ordered by fair attendees.
8. An accepted artist’s image may be selected for use on promotional materials including, but not limited to posters, advertising, and website.
Booth and Fees
Booth SetupA 10x10 space will be assigned to each artist. A proposed layout, subject to change, can be viewed here. It is the artist’s responsibility to supply tent, tables, displays, walls for hanging art and any other supplies deemed necessary. Artist must check-in and setup before 10 am and departure must occur after 4 pm.
Electrical ServiceThere is no electrical service on the fair grounds.
Booth FeesA booth fee of $25 is due by June 30, 2010, and must be remitted with the application. The Marine Villa Neighborhood Association reserves the right in our sole discretion to accept or reject an application. In that event, or in the event vendor capacity is reached, the booth fee would be refunded.
Administrative FeesAn administrative fee of $15 will be charged for any returned checks. If cancelling after payment of booth fee has been made, a $15 fee will be deducted from refund.
RefundsRefund requests must be received via email on or before July 10, 2010, or in writing and postmarked by July 10, 2010 (see contact information). Requests made after July 10, 2010, will not be honored.
TaxesIt is the sole responsibility of the artist to collect and report all taxes, including state and local taxes.
Application Procedures and Checklist
Download the application.__Complete the entire registration form including the release and signature portion.
__Include 3-5 color images along with image decriptions. Images may be mailed with the application or emailed.
__Provide a statement of materials and techniques used to create your artwork (approximately 30-35 words). Please include the dimensions of the work provided in the images.
__Enclose a check or money order in the amount of $25 made payable to Marine Villa Neighborhood Association for booth fee.
__Completed application including all requested materials must be postmarked by June 30, 2010 and should be mailed with payment to:
